Boys Basketball Coach

Job Summary

The Boys Basketball Coach will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of training and coaching Student Athletes at all High School levels. In conjunction with the Athletic Director, the Head Boys Basketball coach is also responsible the scheduling of opponents, and player registration.

Position Responsibilities

  • Practice: Plan and lead daily practices that teach players skills and strategies.
  • Games: Attend and coach at both home and away games.
  • Strategy: Develop strategies for in-game play and rosters. Use a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student athletes in boys basketball.
  • Player assessment: Evaluate players' skills and assign them to team positions.
  • Team management: Coordinate the development, promotion and recruitment for the Boys Basketball Program; this includes involvement with the middle school program.
  • Proactive Work: Hold organizational meetings for team prospects and encourage potential athletes to participate in the boys basketball program.
  • Character development: Help players develop character and appreciate sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork.
  • Communication: Use verbal and written communication to guide players during practice and games.
  • Feedback: Provide constructive feedback to players.
  • Motivation: Mentor and motivate players to achieve their full potential.
  • Accountability: Hold players accountable when they fall short and reward them when they succeed


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Basketball coaches should have strong leadership skills and be able to adapt their communication style to connect with different players.

  • Concussion Certification
  • CPR Certification
